Personality:
For many years, in order to keep his powers from causing him to hurt others, Shigeo muted his emotions. His deadpan voice in addition to not being seen laughing or crying when it would have been appropriate led many who didn't know him to think he was incapable of feeling at all. He blended into the background, earning him the nickname 'Mob' for how little he'd stand out in a crowd. Following an event that helped him come to terms with his inner self, he's began to start expressing himself more, standing up for himself when he needs to, and even giving a little backtalk if it's warranted. It's a slow road, but there's no question he's a more fulfilled person than he was even a year ago.
Shigeo has been known to perform amazing acts of selfless kindness. There are multiple instances where he faces extreme cruelty from others and proceeds to forgive them and believe they can change for the better, even if the persons are trying to literally kill him. He has a pacifistic personality in general, preferring to try and make friends and talk things out before the very last resort of fighting. Even then, he doesn't like using his psychic powers against people, and has taken his master's advice to just 'try and be a good person' to heart. This does not extend only to humans, as he's seen showing concern over the well-being of animals and even spirits who try and plead their case to him - as long as the latter promises to not cause any harm.
While less naive than he used to be, Shigeo is still just a middle schooler and not entirely savvy to the ways of the world. This combined with his trustful nature can sometimes lead him to trouble with more unscrupulous types. His desires are very simple, he wants to become stronger and be popular, and is still trying to figure out exactly what he wants to be when he grows up. With all the wisdom he has that seems beyond his age, it's easy to forget he's just a kid and will make dumb kid mistakes and conclusions sometimes. Psychic powers don't solve everything, as he'll be the first to tell you. Reading other's emotions is still a challenge for him as well as social cues, but he's getting better.
Abilities & Skills:
- Emotion Based Powers: While Shigeo does his best to keep his emotions in check, sometimes enough strong emotions will build up and cause him to reach '100%' of whatever emotion he is feeling most powerfully at the time. The outcome depends on the emotion. For example when he felt 100% Sadness he undid all destruction he'd done to a school building and upon feeling 100% Gratitude for someone he temporarily willed them his powers. At the point I am taking him from he has learned to safely experience emotions without these explosions.
- Psychokinesis: The ability to move objects with his mind. While typically only used on small objects, he does have the ability to move things as large as buildings. This same power can be used to 'fly', give him great speed, and disassemble things on a molecular level.
- Energy Absorption: He can absorb psychic energy from other espers and spirits. While he can also transfer this energy, in a non-esper human it dissipates quickly.
- Force Fields: Used to protect himself and others from both physical and psychic attacks. Although as a small child he's seen using it to even keep his brand new umbrella from getting wet.
- The ability to sense other psychic beings within 12 miles of himself.
- Astral Projection: He's capable of leaving his mortal body and entering the bodies of others. It's never shown if he can control them, though.
- Chlorokinesis: The ability to make plants mature at will.
Inventory/Companions: N/A
Choice: Monster, raccoon dog turnskin
Reason: Witch didn't seem like a choice I'd go with as the powers were already too close to what Mob can do with psychic powers. Turning into an animal, however, is definitely something he can't normally do, hence it'd be a new experience for him to adjust to. As for the specific species, it is one native to Japan that is associated with transformation anyway so I figured it was fitting.
Plus... I'll be totally transparent here, I find them really cute. If my username doesn't make that obvious.
